Discover the unique versatility of gouache with this 6-week deep dive into opaque watercolour painting. Guided by guest artist Robyn Clarke, this workshop combines the rich, opaque qualities of acrylic with the fluid, delicate nature of watercolour.
Whether you are a complete beginner eager to try a new medium or an artist looking to refine your technique, participants will gain hands-on proficiency with brushwork, layering, and composition.
Explore the true adaptability of gouache as Robyn introduces a different substrate every session! You'll experiment with painting on specialty paper, raw wood, vintage maps, and more to see how diverse textures completely transform your artwork.
What you will learn:
Gouache Fundamentals: Technical instruction on opacity control, colour mixing, and layering strategies.
Surface Exploration: Hands-on experience working across diverse surfaces to achieve varied textures and finishes.
Brushwork & Composition: Mastering flat and round brush techniques to build balanced, dynamic artworks.
Workshop Schedule
Dates: 6 Wednesdays — Sept 2, Sept 9, Sept 16 (followed by a 2-week break), Oct 7, Oct 14, and Oct 21

Everything is fully provided: gouache paints, palettes, flat and round brushes, specialty working surfaces, and warm tea/coffee every week. Just bring yourself!
Class capacity is strictly limited to 9 adults to keep our studio space personal, relaxed, and spacious.
